Cocking an airsoft SOCOM?

I plan on getting a Mk. 23 SOCOM airsoft handgun. It’s going to be my first airsoft so I’m kind of iffy. My friend has some airsoft guns and I noticed that for each shot, I have to cock the gun, then shoot. Would it be the same for the SOCOM I’m getting? Because if I have to keep cocking the gun, I might as well get an assault rifle type airsoft.

If you’re talking about UTG, then yeah, you’ll have to cock it after each shot, for it’s a spring pistol.
There are 3 different types of airsoft powered guns. Spring, electric, and gas. It woudn’t be the same, if it was say a gas pistol, though decent ones are usually $100+. Electric pistols are usually crap. The only decent ones are the Tokyo Marui’s and the Cyma’s.

Note: aep’s(not electric pistols) shoot roughly around 220-280fps.
For a gas pistol, you couldn’t really go wrong with a WE, KWA, or KWC. Gas pistols shoot 280+
Gas blow backs are fun to shoot :D , but they take a toll on your gas, and they’re also a hassle to refill the mags every few times you go through one mag, and green gas itself is a hassle to purchase, and then you gotta carry it around in a small little strap on bag.
A spring “assault rifle” would still need to be cocked after each shot.
Nice spring guns. Spring guns are the most durable, cheap..and unskirmishable(excluding shotguns, and bolt-actions), but to me, it seems your just into playing with some friends.

If this is your first electric gun, then you might as well go for a budget mpeg.
Try the Echo1′s, JG enchanced version aegs, G&G plastica, CA sportlines, or the newer Cymas. (CM028+)

Note, that some of these aren’t really “assault rifles” but many of them include smgs, machine guns, carbines, ect.

If this is just with your friends around the neighborehood then I’d reccomend getting a spring pistol, if you plan on running alot, and getting close up(with still cover), on ground, duck-firing/peeping, just NOT standing in the open.
A spring shotgun if you plan on unleashing a shitload of bbs at once out in the open, standing still.
