Socom Gear Airsoft 1911?

I really wanted to buy one, but I heard they can be unreliable. Please share your experience with these guns or general knowledge. thanks!

I own the Socom Gear 1911 MEU and absolutely love it. Socom Gear didn’t do much with the pistol besides add some markings and a rubber buffer to relieve the stress on the recoil plug. They may have added a few other upgrades, but nothing much. The rubber buffer is one of the most important parts. I owned a WE 1911 Tactical (same thing basically) before I purchased my Socom Gear and had quite a few problems. First off the recoil plug snapped. Because of that the barrel bushing broke. I threw a real steel bushing on it and that ended with the slide breaking. So in short the pistol lasted 3 days… Iv’e been using my SG MEU for a while now. Accuracy and range is very good. Easily on par with my friends Tokyo Marui 1911, maybe even better. There is a fair amount of play between the internals and slide etc… but it’s nothing to worry about. Overall it’s an excellent performing pistol, at least mine is, but the mags are the achillies heel. Most WE mags suck beyond what you would imagine… from leaking to filling problems to just breaking in general. If you buy the TM, you won’t have to worry much about receiving a crappy mag. I have 4 WE mags. The mag lip broke on one, and another leaks. It’s a mild leak though… one that I can work around. The other 2 mags work well. One of them works flawlessly. Basically you have to get lucky. Otherwise, this is an excellent sidearm. If you have been pondering about this gun for a while don’t hesitate and go for it. Then again you could always save the extra 50 bucks and buy the TM MEU. With TM, you always know what you are getting…. performance wise.
