The Big 3 Games Of April

This year has already been host to some great AAA titles. April seems intent on keeping the trends going and emptying our wallets even more. While there are dozens of games coming out this month that might be worth your time I decided to focus on the 3 that will get most people talking and seem like safe bets to please their respective core fans.

Mortal Kombat | NetherRealm Studios

First up is Mortal Kombat. If you don’t know what Mortal Kombat is by now then you need to come up from under your rock more often. Yes I know you want to grow a long beard like a wizard and pretend to cast spells at your local mall, but you’re starting to creep people out.

Socom 4 | Zipper Interactive

Next up we have Socom 4. Socom is a long time running third person military shooter made by Zipper and published by Sony. This Playstation 3 exclusive is going to be Zipper’s 2nd game this generation on the PS3, with the first having been MAG.

Portal 2 | Valve Corporation

Last, but most certainly not least is Portal 2. Portal 2 is being made by the amazing minds over at Valve who have brought us incredible games like Half-Life 1 and 2, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, as well as Portal 1. The original Portal had you solving puzzles with a out of this world gun that opened portals as you were guided by an evil robot voice assuring you there would be cake in the end for you. Portal 2 is set out to bring more of that, throw in some co-op, add in more layers for the mind twisters, and Valve is trying to make good with the PS3 fans by making the PS3 copy of the game the best copy. How so? Well first off if you buy the PS3 version you get a code for a free PC version inside. Oh and PS3 players can play with PC players cross servers. That’s not enough for you smug geek man? How about cloud servers to save your game on the PS3 and continue it on PC or vice versa. Oh Gabe you sure know how to make an apology to Playstation fans.

All there games are slated for an April 19th release date too. Better start saving now! I heard the old lady down the street is offering 10 bucks to mow her lawn…get over there! Keep it locked in here on WiredController for reviews for these games and more as April sets to unfold.
