If you had a choice between a quality AR-15 and the SOCOM 16; which would you choose and why?
I’m curious about people’s opinions…
I’m looking for a quality, portable, semi auto rifle that would defend well against 2 and 4 legged critters. I’m not looking to “accessorize” and have a bunch of silly attachments hanging off of my rifle and I’m also not looking to shoot competition either.
Are there any other rifles that you believe that I should be looking at?
It’s hard to say, it depends on the size of these 2/4 legged creatures and how much you’ll be carrying the rifle. The AR15 is much lighter but the 223 won’t produce the same ballistics as the 308. The SOCOM 16, although it has a 16″ barrel can easily get over 10lbs. My personal preference is the SOCOM 16 b/c I prefer the 308 over the 223. But if I have to hike 10-12 miles a day, I’ll easily take the AR15 over the SOCOM 16.
