Questions about the FN SCAR, someone enlighten me?
I saw this article about the AWG losing their 416s…http://www.defensereview.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1111
My questions are:
a) Is the AWG in SOCOM, ergo, will they get the SCAR, or no? (I know the article mentions them getting the old M4, but im still wondering if they can grab the SCARs because all of SOCOM has them and they were not a unit-level procurement…)
b) Did Delta lose their 416s too, or not. The article is a little unclear on that.
c) This is a wierd question, but WHY are all SCARs two tone? The upper and lower recievers are different colors…one is tan, the other is the dull flat eart tone the special ops guys requested. Will the final ones issued be entirely the flat earth tone or not?
AWG is not SOCOM. They are a basically a fighting think-tank. They are based out of Ft. Bragg, but that is as close to SOCOM as they get.
Delta doesn’t exist, but if they did, they would be able to procure their weapons through special channels.
I don’t know why SCARS are two-toned. From what I’v heard, the SF guys are’t using SCARS, they are using upper recievers made by H&K that mate to the M4 lower and solve a lot of problems the old M16/M4 series had.
