M14 Socom Kit

Pimp Your M14 Rifle

The M14 was relatively short-lived as a general issue infantry rifle but won a great following with civilians who have purchased the M1A and SOCOM16 derivatives in droves. The M14 has made a huge comeback in the US Army despite the Clinton regime’s best efforts to have them all cut up.  New tec. has given the M1A and M14 a new lease of life as an accurate, hard hitting weapon capable of very rapid follow-up shots.

One thing that has really advanced in firearms design is the design of muzzle attachments. The Smith Enterprise M1A SOCOM 16 kit enables you to swap between a very effective Vortex flash hider and an equally efficient muzzle compensator. Your night vision is protected by the curved slots which enable the flash hider to burn propellant that would otherwise have burned outside the muzzle creating flash. The compensator has side facing ports, again in a slanted configuration to provide the maximum compensation and defeat muzzle climb. A replacement gas block is threaded to take both alternatives. It is best to use a gas block wrench, sold by Brownells to fit this unit. The replacement gas block puts the foresight at the same height as the issue unit and you can use your USGI front sight or a more modern unit like the Smith Enterprise tritium. The muzzle attachments are machined from 8620 bar stock and heat treated for a tough inside and hard outside whilst the gas block is machined from 1144 ‘stressproof’ steel for optimum longevity. The entire group is then finished matte black parkerized.

The Amega Ranges M1A Scout Mount is a swap for the USGI handgoard that bolts securely to USGI spec. M14 and M1A rifle barrels adding a length of MIL STD 1913 Picatinny rail that can be used to mount intermediate eye-relief ‘scout’ scopes, red dot and holographic sights. The M14 Mini Scout Mount can actually increase the accuracy of your rifle by dampening vibration and many users report this in practice. The mount also absorbs and sheds heat and enables you to use the issue iron sights. You can also mount a flashlight kit that enables the addition of various lengths of Picatinny or Weaver rail at 45 degrees for the mounting of small torches, lasers and red dot back-up sights. This US made, brilliantly designed and engineered kit will enhance the appearance of your SOCOM 16 as well as its function.

Troy Industries are well known in civilian and military circles for their great range of excellent rail interface systems and fip up BUIS. Less well known is their amazing range of upgrades for the USGI M14 rifle and its M1A and SOCOM 16 cousins. The Troy M14 Stock or M14/M1A Modular Chassis System is a two part unit with tunable bedding system that puts the butt slightly above the line of the bore. This has an amazing effect on the recoil characteristics, practically eliminating muzzle climb. If you want to fit a compensator go ahead, if nothing else it will look suitably martial, but it will do little esle. Follow-up shots are much, much faster with this stock than the USGI infantry rifle stock. Rails are fitted at all four points of the compass for unrivalled flexibility. The Troy MCS offers a single unbroken top rail that allows the co-witnessing of BUIS. You can put any AR15 stock or pistol grip on the Troy MCS. This chassis system gives the M14 vastly superior M16 ergonomics.

A 1:1 scale replica of an M14 rifle, this airsoft gun is remarkably authentic. The rifle fires round 6mm plastic pellets known as BBs, which are propelled out of the gun via a spring mechanism. The advantage of the airsoft rifle, however, is that players can safely train, simulate, or play with the gun without fearing serious injury. The M14 looks, feels, weighs, and functions just like a real fir…
